TheNormandyRegionlaunchedacallfortendersfocusedonthedesign,creation,andexecutionofprintanddigitalcommunicationmaterials.Theobjectivewastohighlightitsvariousinstitutionalandculturalmissionsthroughvisualcommunicationprojects.Withinthisframework,theprojectentrustedtouscenteredonthepromotionofcultureandreading,andmorespecificallyonshowcasingaNormandydigitallibrary. Thechallenge:todesignastrongandattractivevisualidentity,abletoengageawideaudience,andinparticularyoungpeople,highschoolstudents,teachers,andregularusersofculturalresources.ThisidentityaimedtomodernizetheimageofreadingandthedigitalresourcesofferedbytheRegion,strengthentheaccessibilityandappealoftheplatformandcreateaunifyinglinkbetweencultural,educational,andheritagestakeholdersinNormandy.

Norma
Thename“Norma”derivesdirectlyfromtheword“Normandie”.Thename“Norma”hasastrongcapacitytoexpandovertimeandwithinthedigitalspace.Itcanbeembodiedindifferentthematicfields,suchasreadingtodayandguidancetomorrow,anditisperfectlycompatiblewithawebaddresslikenorma.normandie.fr,reinforcingitslinkwiththecommunitywhileofferinganintuitiveandmemorableURL.WithNorma,readingbecomesaliving,engaging,andendearinguniverse.Thenamingunderpinstheentiregraphicandnarrativestrategythatwedetailinthefollowingsections.

TheNormalogoisbasedontheSaloVariabletypeface,amodernserifinspiredbythe1920s.Thischoicecombinestheliteraryeleganceofserifswiththereadabilityrequiredindigitaluse.The“O”inNormasubtlyincorporatestheNormancow:tilted,itevokesitseye,whileamousecursorintheformofanirisconnectstheanimaltothedigitalworld.Bothfamiliarandconnected,thissymbolembodiesacuriousandbenevolentgazeonknowledge,capableofrepresentingNorma’sidentityonitsown.
